Under this scheme, students who have passed Class 12th will receive ₹4,000 per month, while those who have completed a Diploma (Polytechnic) or ITI course will receive ₹5,000 per month during their internship or skill development program. This move is aimed at empowering young individuals and encouraging them to pursue practical skill-based learning to boost their employability.
To be eligible for this scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Bihar, aged between 18 to 28 years, and should not be engaged in any permanent government job. The annual income of the family should not exceed ₹8 lakh, and preference will be given to those who have completed some kind of skill training or certification. Importantly, no immediate family member of the applicant should be in a permanent government job. This ensures that the benefits reach those who truly need financial support for their professional development.
The scheme also provides additional financial support in certain cases. If a candidate is selected for an internship outside their home district, they will be eligible for an additional ₹2,000 per month. If the internship takes place outside Bihar, then the applicant will get an extra ₹5,000 per month, but only for up to three months. The application process for this scheme will be managed through a dedicated online portal, which is expected to be launched by the Bihar government soon. Applicants will need to register themselves on this portal by providing their personal details, educational qualifications, skill certifications, and bank account information. Required documents will likely include Class 12th or Diploma/ITI marksheets, Aadhaar card, Bihar domicile certificate, bank passbook, and income certificate.
After successful registration, candidates will be guided to select suitable internship placements provided by bihar government departments, private industries, or skill development centers. A special committee including officials and representatives from industry associations like CII and FICCI will oversee the selection process to ensure transparency and effective placement of candidates. Once selected, interns will receive their monthly stipends directly in their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Initially, the scheme is being launched on a pilot basis for around 5,000 candidates during 2025–26. Based on its success, the program will be expanded significantly in the coming years, with a target to reach nearly 1 lakh beneficiaries by 2030–31.
